Magazine

There is a lot of visual rhetoric in this picture of the NBA Finals game when the two opponents Dallas and Miami faced off. In this picture alone the words rising above says a lot about the picture that you see in this image. The cover story relates a lot to the image in many ways. During the NBA Finals most people thought that Miami would take home the championship, but a lot of people were shocked when Dallas pulled out with the championship. Like the title of this article which is rising above, the Mavericks rose above the challenge and defeated the Miami Heat. During the series the Miami Heat looked as if they would win the NBA Finals because they took an early 2 game lead on the Mavericks in a series of seven, but the Mavericks showed perseverance and showed that they wouldn't give up as easy as Miami thought they would. But through the lone star power of Dirk Nowitzki, the Mavericks came back and made the series interesting by tying the series 2-2 and then eventually going on to win the NBA Finals. The image and cover story relate because it basically tells you what is going to happen. With the words under the picture, you can already get a glimpse of what's about to be said in this article. The image and cover story in this magazine really go together and helps the reader to better understand what is happening in this article.
